Walsall boss Dean Smith has today blamed fans and the pitch for the defeat along with other contributing issues.

Smith said Smith also felt his side were affected by comments from a frustrated home crowd “We wanted to change things.’

‘We went with three up there today, but we did not feel it was working after 35 minutes and changed it back.’

“Once they got the goal it gives them a lift and it was a very hard for us to get back. We had too many below par performances’

“You can`t excuse that. At 0-0 you are still in the game, we didn`t play very well in the first-half.’

‘We are still trying to pass it, we are a team who does that. We spoke about it at half-time, the need to go and play in their half.’

“The players can get affected from a bit of sarcasm from the fans because we are not playing in their half’

Smith seems to blame everything but himself for the defeats. Five points from a possible thirty is not good enough.

Wembley has saved so many this season. Let’s see what happens after 22nd March.
