Walsall boss Dean Smith is set to become the new manager of Championship side Brentford and leaves the Saddlers after four years in charge.

He will leave the Saddlers just three points behind leaders Coventry City and a victory over Shrewsbury tomorrow night could see the Saddlers return back to the top of League 1.

During his reign he has seen the overhaul of a club which relied purely on journeymen and loanees to a club which now bloods youth players through at the same quality as Crewe once did.

The likes of Jamie Paterson, Will Grigg and Rico Henry have all excelled under Smith and many believe his qualities of man management will never be replicated.

On top of that he has taken the club to their first ever Wembley appearance, which no one will ever forget.

Lets be honest when he took over the club we were certainties for relegation , playing horrendous football – now we are at the top of League 1 playing some of the best football the club has ever seen.

We owe it all to the original Ginger Mourinho – thanks for the memories and good luck for the future.
