Dean Smith has said that he will be strong in the transfer market in the close season as he looks to build his squad.

Last season saw many a loan player and Walsall is craving permanent plyers, but Smith insists the ropey financial position Walsall is in is not going to affect him in his quest.

‘I am one of those people who will get on with it and we`ll try to spend it wisely to get players in who can push us forward.” He told the Express and Star.

Walsall sold Troy Deeney for £500,000 at the beginning of the season and have already secured the services of loanee Andy Butler.

“I don`t think many League One clubs are going to blow us out of the water in terms of finances.’ He continued.

The manager is tracking the services of former loanees Marc Laird and Marc Gbarssin, so stay tuned for the latest info.

Let’s see where this one goes!
