Walsall boss Dean Smith has today insisted his squad is good enough to compete and doesn’t believe his squad needs strengthening during the January transfer window.

Speaking to ExpressandStar.com; Smith said “If we require players then we can bring them in but, at the moment, I`ve got almost a fully-fit squad.

“Plus I`ve got four young lads – Amadou Bakayoko, Jordan Murphy, Jake Heath and Liam Roberts – out on loan at the moment who are getting valuable experience, but could come back.

“Jordan Cook was missing on Saturday but he will be back soon and Sam Mantom will be back by the end of January.

“So we`ve already got two really good players there to come back.”

Smith is allowed to dip into the loan market until March should he wish to.
