Start Of The Mike Flynn Era

Forest Green away…Not the easiest game for your new head coach to start with but he has to start somewhere? As Mike Flynn jokingly said in his press conference (the bits we could hear) if he wins its all down to him and if we lose it’s down to those before him.

With Storm Eunice on its way who knows if the match will even go ahead. Fingers crossed it does for the 500 or so Saddlers fans making the trip down.

FORM

Forest Green are champions in waiting. Already eleven points ahead of second placed Tranmere with two games in hand. Their last defeat in the league came in October where Swindon ran out 2-0 winners. They have won their last four home games and impressively conceded just one goal at home in their last eight.

Walsall have lost their last six games on the road. Our last victory on the road came against Port Vale in November. We did however beat 2nd placed Tranmere last time out.

TEAM NEWS

Forest Green have more or less a full squad to choose from with only defender Opanin Edwards out.

Walsall have club captain Joss Labadie suspended following TEN bookings already this season. Rory Holden is also out. Remains to be seen whether Mike Flynn sticks with the 4-4-2 from last weekend or reverts to his favorable 3-5-2/3-4-3 formation.

MEETINGS

Forest Green and the Saddlers have faced each other seven times with the Saddlers winning three, drawing two and losing two – however the last two defeats have come in the last two meetings.

PREDICTIONS

Its a free hit for Mike Flynn with no one expecting a result. Forest Green will be everyone’s banker of the weekend, all we want to see is the same grit and determination as last weekend.
