So we all know what Lee Hughes did, we all know that the justice system in this country deemed it fit that he didn’t serve his full sentence. We all know he will be back in the midlands to face Walsall at the Banks’s on saturday. So why are the football fans across the country divided about his appearance in an Oldham shirt.

Well the fact he tried to avoid punishment and ran away and hid from the police, has certainly got to some fans. This certainly shows a lack of back bone and a certain lack of morale fibre but is it right to persucute the player well some believe so.

Just the fact that his actions led to the death of an innocent family man and wrecked the lives of many that he knew is certainly a strong motivation for the venom that has appeared on the message boards from clubs up and down the country.

However whilst some hold these beliefs saying that he should not return to a job where he is a role model for youngsters. I do wonder if Mr Hughes was say a plumber would we be up in arms would we see the anger, is this anger jealously in the fact Lee Hughes is a player of acknowledged talent and he has thrown away an opportunity which most football fans would give there right arm for !! I don’t know do you.

Lee hughes will certainly get plenty of stick on saturday, that is the nature of the game, whether this will push him onto greater things and a sterling performance as some of his ex colleagues think it will, or will he react in a negative way only time will tell. His remorse and feeling of guilt are real there is a human behind that Oldham shirt, how deep the scar runs who knows.

The only thing we do know is that saturday won’t provide any true answers, any stick that comes cascading down the stands will be nothing to a prison cell with a load of guards who are Wolves fans!!

Of course then there is return of the orginal Walsall Judas….Micheal Ricketts, thats another story!
