The Irish Times are reporting that Walsall owners Trivela LLC are set to make investment in Irish Premier League side Drogheda United.
The Alabama investment firm became majority shareholders at Walsall FC last summer and reunited the club with the freehold. In a statement last year Trivela did point towards multi club ownership however no one expected it to be this soon with the Saddlers still no further forward as a club.
Drogheda interim chairwoman said “We are in serious talks with one potential investor, but we are under a confidential agreement to allow the due diligence process to take place” “It would have to go to the members that own our club for approval. I’d say it could happen in the next few weeks.”
The move could see Drogheda become a feeder club for the Saddlers with our young players getting valuable loan stints over there and could see Drogheda players coming here.
Trivela will need to release a statement to inform us how this will benefit both clubs going forward.
