If the Swindon game on Tuesday night showed our class when everything clicks, then Saturday’s game showed that when a team nullifies us – we really dont have a plan B.

After a defeat we find ourselves asking why we dont have a striker that can score 20 goals, a target – man blah blah blah but quite frankly Saturday proved that we need something, as and what at this moment I honestly dont know.

Throw into the fact we didnt have a plan B we also have the fact that we played with five midfielders for eighty minutes of the game against a Coventry side that had conceeded far more than most in this league. Even on eighty minutes Romaine Sawyers came on but sat just behind Troy Hewitt and it was indeed centre back Andy Butler that became the second striker??

To complain about the performance after such a great start to the season only shows the frustration shared by myself and my fellow supporters – dont take nothing away from Coventry as they reduced our chances to a minimum and had obviously done their homework.

The only goal of the game came on fifty four minutes as Richard O’Donnell produced a good save to deny Leon Clarke, the rebound fell to Franck Moussa who slotted into an empty net.

Walsall’s best chance came from a free kick when Craig Westcarr’s effort was pushed around the post by former Saddler – Joe Murphy.

It was one of those days….we move onto the next one.

Walsall drop to seventh in League 1 with tough home game against Peterborough and away games at MK Dons and Sheffield United coming up.
