Following our 5-1 drubbing at the hands of neighbours Coventry City, Walsall manager Dean Smith insists despite our winless run we will be ready for the two crunch games against Yeovil and Portsmouth.

Speaking to the Official Site Smith said ‘We took a deserved lead with a well-worked goal, but we allowed them back into it with a couple of poor goals on our part and for the next 70 minutes our performance didn’t reach the standards that I know we are capable of’

‘We understand where we’re at as a club; it was always going to be difficult against a club that were in The Championship last season and still have Championship players’

‘It’s a case of taking it on the chin and making sure that we are ready for two important home games on the spin which follow’
