We have signed Chris Palmer,24, after a sucessfull trial spell. Whilst he hasn’t set the world alight the former Derby and Wycombe man has proved his worth with solid performances on both the left and right side of the team during pre season. His defensive work on the whole has been solid although when pressing forward his final ball needs some work.

Really brought in as a squad player Chris could find himself pushed into action sooner rather than later as right back Rhys Weston has had a disrupted pre season due to a calf injury, casting doubts if he will be ready for the start of the season. In truth this signing will enable us to give Rhys time to catch up. The left back berth which has seen Paul Boertien absent for most of the pre season games looks likely to be filled by the returning left back after he played in the Boldmere friendly and he looks certain to play either against Vale on saturday or Chasetown on Friday.

Given this the starting berth at right back seems to be a straight battle between Richard Taundry and new boy Chris Palmer with the winner looking to hold onto the shirt until Rhys returns at least.
