We welcome Coventry to the Banks’s Stadium for a fairly local derby as third face first in League 1’s game of the day.

Saddlers will be hoping to make it four wins on the trot.

Vital Quotes:

Dean Smith “It`s important now that we get the performance right at home. In the first game of the season (against Oldham) we probably only got half an hour right. At the time, the system we were playing was probably in its infancy and the lads were just getting used to it.

“Saturday will be different; it`s a derby, Coventry will be bringing a lot of supporters and there`ll be a really good atmosphere with both teams having a decent start. Hopefully we can put in a good performance for our home fans.”

Walsall Team News:

Walsall should have Andy Taylor back for selection despite the left back being substituted during Tuesday’s victory at Rochdale.

Player to watch: Sam Mantom

Sam The Mantom Menace is back to his best. The last two games have seen Sam score two goals from outside the penalty area (albeit one being a deflection) but give Sam a sniff at goal and there’s only one outcome. He was greatly missed last season and with a fully fit Mantom can only benefit the Saddlers.

Coventry Team News:

Coventry have no fresh injury worries.

Player to watch: Adam Armstrong

Armstrong is the man of the moment having scored five goals already this season.

The Newcastle youngster seems to be the next big thing in League 1, here’s hoping Jimmy and Paul can keep him quiet tomorrow.

Match Facts & Stats

Our record against Coventry is shocking.

The Saddlers have only recorded one home victory over the Sky Blues since 1960. This came in 2013 where a double from Westcarr and Paterson saw the Saddlers romp to a 4-0 victory.

Coventry have won their opening three games of the season – first time they have done that since the 1960’s.

Match Prediction:

Given our poor home record against Coventry and our poor home record in general I would snatch your hands off for a draw now.

1-1 Bradshaw.
