It’s big weekend for Stanley, on friday they will find out if they have been deducted points for fielding an ilegiable player. Although no doubt an appeal will follow if they are. Defeat against Saddlers may also push them into the bottom two.
Remember that Stanley manager John Coleman said that they are one of the best teams and should have beaten the Saddlers comfortable so we could be up against, so much for all you that say the table never lies eh.
It’s a big weekend for the Saddlers too, and so will each one before the fat lady sings. With the Shrews playing Swindon and MK Doons away at Hereford, the table could look very different at 5pm…we must do our bit.

Vital Quotes:

DD spoke in the Evening Mail about saturdays game and expects Accrington to pose a threat…
‘I have seen Accrington a lot this season because it’s just happened they have been playing teams that are about to play us.’

But he doesn’t expect any strong arm tactics unlike Chester and Boston despite ther discipliary record, with eight red cards and 68 yellows, those stats don’t do justice to their approach to the game, reckons Money.

‘I am surprised they have picked up that many red and yellow cards because they they don’t set themselves up to play that way,’ said Money. ‘They try to play football. I don’t think Saturday’s game will be one where they just try to stop us playing. I think they will come and have a go.’

As for John Coleman he has done DD’s job for him if he needed to motivate the lads. Following his rant after the Saddlers won 2-1 at the Fraser Eagle.

‘And I am very surprised they are threatened by relegation because they are a capable side and went unbeaten for 10 or 12 games earlier in the season.

‘We 2-1 won at their place, but I think everybody who saw that game would agree that we got away with it. We will have to play a lot better than that to win on Saturday.’

Walsall Team News:

Roper out for the season and joined on the side lines by Scott Dann the club has lost it’s best two centre half’s for the run in. So changes to the defence will be made. However DD has ruled out a return for Alan Picken for this game. Most Likely that Westwood and Gerrard will be in the centre with Pead at Full back. Although other names such as Dobson has been rumoured. The rest of the team should be unalter, with Trevor Benjamin making his home debut.

Made a lot of saddlers fans eat there words with a sound debut at MK Dons. He will now need to impress those who didn’t see that game. The question is can TB and Martin Butler rekindle the partnership which was so prolific at Cambridge.

Accrington Stanley Team News:

Phil Edwards returns to the squad after serving a two match suspension for accumulating ten yellow cards over the season, and Jay Harris has one game left of his two match ban for the same offence. Leam Richardson starts a two match suspension after he also picked up his tenth yellow against Hereford last week and David Brown will sit out the first of three matches after our appeal against last week’s red card was turned down. Andy Tretton and Tony Grant are both ruled out through injury, however Leighton McGivern could feature in the squad after playing in the reserves in midweek. Sean Doherty should be available after spending the week on trial at Ipswich.
