Walsall Wednesdays

The last day in League Two for the 2006/2007 season will be the best day of football ever, perhaps in the history of football itself. OK, maybe I am being slightly melodramatic, but with Walsall meeting Swindon and Hartlepool playing Bristol Rovers, the title situation at the top of League Two will be a close fought affair. Also, Wrexham versus Boston at the bottom of the table, the Play-offs are to be decided, and it will all happen within the space of 90 minutes. Anything can happen. This is why football is number one all over the world, because it can be exciting.

After beating Wrexham, it may have given us the upper hand and boy do we need to use it by beating Swindon on Saturday. If we do not do this then Danny Wilson`s side could leapfrog us again when it really matters. Personally, I can not predict what will happen this weekend in League Two, but I will have to when it comes to writing the preview for this weekend`s fixtures. It is a brainteaser!

Once the season ahs ended, things will need to change at Walsall, and I think the club have recognised this. Only, they have completely misunderstood what I mean. The Banks`s Stadium. WHAT! I will refuse to use this name, and I will just call it the Bescot, as it makes me sick. It happened to York City when they changed their stadium name from Bootham Crescent to the Kit Kat Crescent, and all because they wanted the money from sponsorship that would stop them from going into debt. It is the sign of the times in football when a stable club, such as ourselves, have to submit to this type of situation, and it really does make me feel sad. So, I would like to start a campaign for every supporter to refuse to call Bescot the new name and to tell everyone that we play at ‘The Bescot.`
