After playing through the pain barrier in recent weeks Walsall midfielder Michael Dobson has admited defeat, as he is now set to under go surgery this week for what is a suspected torn cartiledge. It is suspected he will be out for upto six weeks.

Hence our thread bare midfield will need a booast sooner rather than later. Especially as Rhys Weston also limped out of last nights draw at Brighton. This could mean that the midfield will also lose Darren Wrack as he maybe drafted into the right back berth for the FA Cup tie, the other option been a bow for another youngster such as Taundry or Sansara at the back.

In all likely hood any loan replacement wil not be given the nod to become cup tied against Shrewsbury, in which case it would be prudent that the new face will not be announced until next Friday. So will we see Anthony Gerard return to his midfield role which to be honest he hasn’t always look comfortable. Another option would be Fox but until Boertien recovers fully the defence again would suffer…..a bit of a headache for DD until saturday then!
