Want away centre half Anthony Gerrard’s last minute move away from the Banks’s stadium has failed to materalise. In fact it became clear nothing was going to happen either in or out when Roy Whalley spoke on radio WM at about 10 last night.

Of course the excitement of the transfer window and the millions been thrown around in Manchester failed to filter down to Walsall. There is disappointment that a further centre half and a different striking option wasn’t found. So we will have to make do with what we have got…at least for the next 7 days until the loan market opens with players coming in on a 93 day maxium period. Also non contracted players are still free to sign, such as Gary Breen.

As for Anthony, well he will want to impress the watching scouts and perhaps Steve Coppell himself if rumours are to be believed thats good news for the Saddlers, but come January he could be off. Even worse if the offer is right he could be sent out on loan pending a move, so this is one story that won’t be going away.
