Ex Manchester United player Kris Taylor who was released by DD at the end of the season has reportedly signed for Hereford United. So of the players released Pead, Wright and Taylor have remained in league Two whilst Tony Bedeau has gone into the conference which suggests that the right decision was made to release them.

However the release of Kris Taylor is the one which created the most debate. He is a player of undeniable talent, but the potential has never really been forfilled. He started well in central midfield under Colin Lee in the Championship. However with starting chances limited he found himself playing left wing back in pre season and once again looked good. Following on from that a refusal to play at full back started rumours of an attitude issue, fuelled by similar stories acredited to his Man Utd days….however those that knew Kris were quick to jump to his defence.

So after a period at left midfield, Kris became a victim of the Merson Era and a couple of loan spells at Burton Albion followed, a recent quote attributed to Nigel Clough stated he didn’t do that well in his second spell. However the departure of Merson and the arrival of DD saw Kris Taylor start at full back and some times swoping with Danny Fox on the left side. However it seems that choice had to be made and Danny won out, leaving Kris to find a new club after what some describe as his best season at Walsall.

I for one wish Kris all the best and thank him for the important part he played in us winning the championship. The ball is now in his court to turn all that potential into a decent career.

Good Luck Kris
