It is not only the players which have the opportunity to get better contracts. Chairman Jeff Bonser has stated his desire to get manager Richard Money on a longer contract. His present deal expires next summer.

“I`ll be having discussions with Richard next week about the future and how he sees it’, Bonser said. “We`ll talk about his plans for next season, the new training ground and how he wants to move his management career forward.

I`m coming back on Friday in time for the Bury game and I`m sure myself and Richard will sit down and speak some time in the following week. I have been very happy with him, and, having got to know him, the fact we`re up at the top of the division doesn`t surprise me.

I know Richard is very ambitious but we have just invested a lot of money in a new training ground and Richard has had a lot of input in saying what he wants there and I see no reason why Richard cannot be our manager for a long time to come.”

Chairman Jeff Bonser hinted hewas happy with the compensation clauses we have in the DD’s contract, He stated,”I`m comfortable at the moment with the protection the club has,” he said.

One of the interesting points which is very JB, is the bit about having invested heavily in the new training facility. Reading between the lines this could indicate that the funds available will not be as great as DD had hoped for. This would give rise to concern that the club are unwilling to match DD’s own ambitions. The ,manager has already stated his desire not to be in the division just to make up the numbers. Another factor which will effect the playing budget next season is the fact the players took a pay cut on relegation, those players who are still under contract or are offered new deals will expect to regain what they have lost plus a bit more.
