We Can Use Oxford As Example To Climb The League

|

Walsall boss Dean Keates has today said we must use Saturday’s opponents Oxford United as an example as we look to move ourselves away from relegation trouble

Until three games ago Oxford United were deep in the relegation fight but three wins on the trot has fired Oxford to twelfth position and leaves them with just one more win to secure League 1 safety.

Speaking to official site Keates said

“Oxford were below us a few weeks ago but they have kept going and had some decent results.

“They have scored a couple of late goals, 94th minute plus, and it’s just shows if you keep going you can pick up points.

“They have given us a platform to look at and we can use them as an example.”

Keates is aware of the situation facing his side but is confident that despite Oxfords resurgence the Saddlers can go and get a result in a massive six game period for the club.

“These next six games are massive for us. The first one is Oxford and we are looking to get some points on the board this weekend.”

The Saddlers are currently in the bottom four on goal difference and a victory this weekend could distance themselves from trouble with Southend and Scunthorpe facing tough away games.
