We Only Sing When We’re Flynn-ing

Cast your minds back five games ago, we had suffered our seventh league defeat on the trot, turned in one of the worst performances in modern times after a demoralising defeat to Scunthorpe and then the protests appeared before our next home game with Tranmere.

Roll forward five games, we have defeated then 2nd placed Tranmere, defeated 1st placed Forest Green, defeated top of the form table Hartlepool and grabbed a point away at then 2nd placed Northampton…less said about the Swindon blot the better.

We do look like we have something about us again.

Flynn playing two strikers up top (which Taylor was often scared to do), playing with wingers as full backs (I mean whoever thought that was an option) and ten points from a possible fifteen has got most of us looking up rather than down. Most of us are hoping the last two months of the season comes and goes quite quickly so we can start looking forward to a brighter era. The resurgence of Wilkinson and Miller is something to get excited about and maybe we could start trying to persuade Barnsley to part with George who has now scored eleven goals for the season.

Obviously the return of Manny Monthe has certainly helped but lets not take credit away from what Michael Flynn and Wayne Hatswell have managed to achieve in such a short space of time.

Lets make no mistakes about it the past twelve months have been depressing, demoralising and most seeing watching Walsall was becoming more of a chore. However if the past five games are anything to go by then the next twelve months has the chance to become our resurrection from a dark era.

Obviously supporting Walsall is rarely a happy and easy ride however many fans are muttering it quietly that many may have finally had their wake up call.

Roll on Barrow!
