Under fire Walsall boss Jon Whitney has today admitted his side were beaten by the better side following our 2-0 defeat to Rochdale yesterday.

Whitney felt his game plan (which one we dont know) was working until Rochdale scored their first goal and did admit that we had chances which if taken could have changed the shape of the game.

Speaking to the Speaking to Official Site, Whitney said that he thought the game plan was working until the first goal. Adding “We were a threat and we played beyond them a little bit as they`re such an attack-minded front-footed team.” Also pointing out we had a couple of good chances ourselves “but then the goal changed it as it gave them something to hold on to.”

He also said he`d make no excuses and held his hands up to the fact that Rochdale were the better side.

“I couldn`t fault the effort from us, but all in all, I thought they were the better team.

Oh and for those asking, Whitney confirmed Isaiah Osbourne missed the match due to an injury but he`s hopeful that the player will be fit for action v Sheffield United on 14 Jan.
