Walsall goalkeeper Rene Gilmartin has moved on loan to Hednesford United for the whole of next season.
The youngster, who has played for the Irish Under-21s, hopes the loan move will be beneficial to him.
He told the club’s website: ‘I want to play as often as possible during my time at Hednesford and show Walsall what I can do and really start to push my claims here.
‘I am a young goalkeeper with a lot to prove, but I am prepared to knuckle down and work hard.
‘It will also help with my International career.’
Gilmartin will still be coached on a daily basis by Saddlers goalkeeping coach Eric McManus.
DD explained on the club’s website that the move does not necessarily mean he will be at Hednesford for the whole season.
He said: ‘The fact that he has moved to a local club means we will be able to monitor his progress closely and we have insisted upon a 24-hour recall clause.’
