Boss On Cup Exit

I am actually surprised that Dean Smith was still able to talk to the press labelled ‘Walsall manager’. Following last nights disaster showing and the past 11 games without a win, I think a few people wouldnt have been surprised had we woken up to…. Dean Smith Sacked As Walsall Manager.

Yet we wake up to more excuses from the manager and a few more ‘we were good a few weeks ago’ remarks….

Dean had this to say to the O/S…”They got men behind the ball and made it difficult for us; my job now is to build the confidence back up but the players also have to help themselves and be better’

He continued ‘At the start of the season there were no expectations on us and we started well with some really good results. With that came more pressure because those expectation levels were raised and we have to be able to live with that and deal with it’

I agree with his sentiments that what happened in September wasnt expected but at the same time the complete reversal in October and November wasnt expected neither.

However to talk about our form in September just after our defeat to Lincoln is laughable. Even a team who had lost every league game upto this point would have still given Lincoln a tougher test in those two games!

Credit to Lincoln though who thoroughly deserved their victory.

…..I wonder if come May when we are fighting another relegation scrap, Dean and Gamble will continue to talk about the football we played in September?!

Message to the staff of Walsall FC, FORGET SEPTEMBER
