This evening a Walsall XI cruised to a 4-0 victory against Chasetown at The Scholars Ground.

Trialist Zac Thompson was part of the Walsall XI along with an unnamed centre half rumoured to be Spanish.

The saddlers started brightly with Kieron Morris and Amadou Bakayoko linking up well, which saw the former stab an effort just wide.

Danny Edwards came close to putting Chasetown ahead on the twelfth minute but he stabbed an effort wide of Liam Roberts goal.

The Saddlers took the lead on twenty minutes when Kieron Morris fizzed a shot twenty yards out and into the bottom left corner, not much the Chasetown keeper could do.

Moments later the Saddlers nearly had a second where a great one-two between Levi Rowley and Jordan Murphy saw the former flash one wide.

In the twenty ninth minute trialist Zac Thompson unleashed an unstoppable twenty five yard volley into the top corner. Chasetown keeper couldn’t get anywhere near it.

HALF TIME – Chasetown 0-2 Walsall


On fifty minutes quick footwork from lively Zac Thompson played Jordan Murphy in before Chasetown keeper Bateman thwarted him.

Liam Roberts denied both Francis and Waite for Chasetown as the hosts try to get back into the game.

On sixty minutes Jordan Sangha replaced trialist Zac Thompson who impressed.

On sixty three minutes the Saddlers extended their lead. Great work from substitute Nathan Owen, cut back and Jordan Sangha fires past Bateman.

In the sixty sixth minute Mazir Kouyhar fired Walsalls fourth with an unstoppable shot from the right of the area.

On seventy minutes Kyle Rowley denied the hosts with some brilliant defending.

On seventh eight, Liam Roberts was alert and off his line quickly to deny Chasetown’s Paul Sullivan.

On eighty six, Sangha hit a sweet volley which ricocheted off the bar.
