Walsall boss Darrell Clarke paid tribute to the outstanding Saddlers fans yesterday claiming the win was for them.
1,455 Saddlers fans made the trip to Northampton yesterday and sang throughout giving the team fantastic support throughout.
The Saddlers fans have not had much to cheer about for the past three years but following the takeover of the club on Monday many feel that the club is reborn and we can all start pulling together as one once more.
Speaking to the Express and Star, Clarke said
“We will enjoy the win with the fans and the supporters. We had fantastic support. That was a thank-you to them.“
The Saddlers won the game thanks to a header by skipper James Clarke in the thirteenth minute.
We now face Forest Green Rovers at the Banks’s Stadium on Saturday hoping to continue our positive start to the season and here’s hoping you fantastic supporters continue to turn up in your thousands as we continue this new era.
