Experience Will Be Added To Make Walsall Successful – Clarke

|

Walsall boss Darrell Clarke has confirmed experience will be added to his Saddlers squad in order for us to be successful in our League 2 campaign.

The Saddlers average age of the squad is currently 22 and Clarke has identified this is an area he needs to work on but confirms it will be done.

Speaking to the Express And Star – Clarke said

“We need more experience throughout the squad.”

“They will be coming through the door. We will get the experience to be successful in League 2.”

“That will be done”

Clarke has also confirmed that a signing is imminent with the player likely to arrive today.

He has also said he’s on the lookout for a minimum of seven more signings with a goalkeeper, two centre halves, central midfielder, two wingers and a striker on his radar.

“I’d like a couple of wide ones as well because we haven’t got that option yet. I need a couple of centre-halves, two wide players”

“And I’d like another central midfield player and another centre forward minimum. Then with a couple of wide players in the mix as well we will have a healthy squad.”

The Saddlers suffered a defeat in their first friendly going down 2-1 against Alfreton on Saturday. The Saddlers travel to Leamington tomorrow evening before facing Nuneaton on Saturday.

Clarke has said he wants the nucleus of his squad in place before the squad travel to Poland on 14th July.
