FA Cup Round One Preview

Yep, it`s back! It`s the FA cup round one, where there are 40 games over four days, this weekend. And, most teams will be Match of the Day; double trouble! So, what are the games to look out for in round one?

Conference South side Yeading are in action in the first round, after coming through three qualifying rounds. They face a very tough trip to League One high-flyers Nottingham Forest. The Ding`s fans will be out in force for this no doubt, but what I can say is that we can expect maybe an upset. Forest are good at home, but they tend to lose the odd game, with 4-0 home defeat to Scunthorpe proving that Yeading will feel they have a chance of earning themselves a money-making replay.

Another match to look out for is the all Welsh tie between Newport County and Swansea. The game at the Newport Stadium was nearly moved to a neutral venue in order to fit the high demand of fans who want to be at the game. The Swans will be looking to progress past the Conference South side, but Newport will want to take home advantage and, like their counterparts at the City Ground, earn a replay at the Liberty Stadium, which would bring much needed income.

Finally, the League Two leader Walsall have a tough trip to Paul Ince`s Macclesfield side, who will be looking to upset the Mighty Saddlers (no bias). The Saddlers will travel to Moss Rose hoping to do what they did back in December 1997, when Walsall ended the Silkmen`s unbeaten home record to win 7-0, a game which Saddlers legend Dean Keates will remember well. More of the same please (again, no bias whatsoever).
