Former Walsall Winger Joins Salford

|

Former Walsall winger Ashley Hemmings has today joined Vanarama Conference side Salford City.

Salford City are managed by former Fleetwood Town boss Graham Alexander and Hemmings becomes the clubs fifth summer signing.

Salford City are co-owned by former England and Manchester United stars Gary Neville, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes.

Released from Molineux in 2012 he moved down the road to the Saddlers, making 66 appearances for the Saddlers and scoring six goals – one of which came against his former club Wolves in the Johnstones Paint Trophy, which the Saddlers went onto lose on penalties. Hemmings also netted on his debut for the Saddlers scoring against Brentford in the League Cup.

A loan move to League 2 promotion Chasing Burton Albion came in March 2014 and his loan deal was extended with the Brewers due to their participation in the League 2 play-offs.

He was released from his Saddlers contract and signed for League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge. He racked up over 90 appearances and 12 goals for the Daggers but was released in 2016 following the club’s relegation to the National League.

The 2016-2017 season was spent back in League Two at Mansfield Town where his chances were limited before moving onto former league side Boston United in the Conference.

Everyone at Vital Walsall wishes Ashley Hemmings the best of luck with Salford City.
