Keates Misses Out On His Second Signing For Walsall

|

Walsall boss Dean Keates has today told the Express And Star that he missed out on his second signing last week.

He is still working tirelessly to bring in new faces but insists it will be quality over quantity.

On missing out on one of his targets, Keates said

“That is how it goes sometimes. You think you are about to complete the deal and then the goalposts get moved at the last minute.”

“It is never a case of putting all of your eggs in one basket.”

“We have up to four or five targets in each position. If we miss out on one then it is on to the next one.”

The Walsall boss is keen to strengthen central defence and wide areas with only Roberts, Guthrie and Morris filling those roles at present.

The Saddlers have been linked with former players Zeli Ismail and Milan Lalkovic so far this window but with many players currently on their annual break it will probably go quiet for a couple of weeks before picking up again.

One thing you can say though, Dean Keates is currently saying all the right things – something that has been missing for the past two seasons.

We have faith in Deano to make the right acquisitions to take us forward.
