Manager Dean Smith says he is thankful to the Saddlers for the position they are in given their plight on his takeover.

Back in January, the weather matched the frosty and cold atmosphere at the Banks’s as we saw Walsall fall to a pathetic 3-0 defeat to Notts County and were firmly rooted to the bottom of the table.

Now the weather has warmed and Dean Smith has brought a ray of light and breath of fresh air to the Banks’s.

Survival is now well within reach for the Saddlers as they sit just outside the drop zone and the gaffer is only to grateful for the turnaround.

He told the Express and Star; ‘I am thankful we`re in this position and we`ve got the chance to finish off the job, which we`ve worked so hard on.”

It will come as joy to many Walsall fans as Smith declared Walsall now have one up on the relegation rivals.

He added: ‘There`s pressure on everyone. The pressure is probably more on them because they need to win to get above us’

The Saddlers take on Charlton Athletic today and the sun is shining so everyone should get to the Banks’s and get behind the team!

Up The Saddlers!
