It Wasn’t Just The Result That Got Backs Up

Anyone would think our sixth straight defeat, leaving us hovering over the trap door to the National League would be the main talking point of the weekend however an image was shared on Twitter on Saturday evening showing chairman Leigh Pomlett’s programme notes, which left an even sourer taste in the mouths of hard working Saddlers fans – 95% of which had left their money in the club during the COVID pandemic.

When our fans left their money in the club there was uncertainty about jobs, no one knew how long furlough was going to last or whether people were going to be in work when they eventually got back to the ‘office’ yet they did. And why? They love this club.

The fans of Walsall FC have done far more in the past 18 months than most fans across the country – the notes below were quite rightly not taken lightly.

Whilst online abuse across the whole football spectrum seems to be increasing and which we condemn completely the timing of this statement is poor.  Fans of this once great club have many reasons to be angry and to be upset of how this club is ran.

At a time when the club is at its lowest ebb, we should all be pulling together as one to ensure we don’t fall out of the football league.

The club have recently caused a stir with the minutes from the meeting with ISSA, now isn’t the time to get anymore backs up.

The ‘us v them’ mantra displayed by his predecessor didn’t make him many friends, so Leigh please don’t go down this route.

We understand you are hurting, we all are. Let’s just focus on turning this around.
