Joyful Jones!

Jones became Walsall’s second signing of the summer and Hutchings’ says there’s plenty more to come. The former Alex winger has struggled in recent seasons at Burnley and has found himself loaned out back to Crewe and to Huddersfield and Bradford City.

Jones who can play down the middle or on the right wing will strengthen our miserable ranks in attacking positions. It seems that with money as tight as it it at the Banks’ Stadium that Manager Chris Hutchings is trying to sign as many versatile players as he can to bolster his limited options, see previous signing Mark Hughes who can play centre half or central midfield.

The Express and Star also ran the story that Hutchings had been chasing Alan Mahon and Jason Price but both players turned down the Saddlers for more lucrative League One rivals Millwall and Tranmere.

It is also odd that Jones according to SkySports has signed a two-year contact at thirty two he is no spring chicken especially as this generousity has been denied more seemingly valuable players in the squad. Jones has also suffered from niggling injuries that have plagued recent seasons and the last time the Saddlers offered a two year contract it was Stephen Roberts – less said the better.
