Keates Confident Of Adding More Players To Squad Before Window Shuts

|

Walsall boss Dean Keates has today admitted he is confident of adding more players to his squad before the January window slams shut.

Keates has already added five players to his squad during the window (Omar Mussa, Cameron Norman, Scott Laird, Dan Scarr and Matt Jarvis) but feels he can still add a couple more, especially in the attacking areas to take pressure off leading scorer Andy Cook.

Speaking to Express and Star, Keates said

“Before the window shuts, I’m hopeful, fairly optimistic, that we’ll add a forward”

“People need to contribute and add to the goal tally.”

“It’s something we’ll be looking at and, all being well, other players – maybe one or two – might join and add to the group, and do that.”

“The lads that are in the group already need to step up to the plate as well”

The Saddlers have only scored thirty-three goals this season, with Cookie scoring eleven of them. The next top goalscorer is Morgan Ferrier on five.

The transfer window slams shut a week today however the Saddlers dont play again until 2nd February giving Keates enough time to concentrate on reinforcements.
