Manchester United Defender Wanted By Walsall?

|

The Irish Mail on Sunday are reporting that Walsall are interested in the loan signing of Manchester United defender Regan Poole.

Regan Poole started his career at Newport County and made fifteen appearances for The Exiles before Manchester United signed the youngster in 2015 for £100,ooo. Poole joined Northampton Town on loan last season making eighteen appearances for the relegated side.

Poole is predominantly a centre back although he spent most of his loan spell at Northampton Town playing as a defensive midfielder.

Poole has represented Wales at youth level, playing for their Under 17’s, 18’s, 19’s and 21’s. He was called up to the main Wales preliminary squad earlier this year to face Mexico but failed to make the final squad selection.

Poole spoke to ManUtd.com recently saying he enjoyed his loan spell at Northampton and will expect to go out on loan for the new season.

”Obviously, I went there because of the manager [Justin Edinburgh] who I worked with before [at Newport County], but the first couple of games didn’t get off to a great start and he ended up moving on.”

“I went through a fair few managers in my year there but, at the end of the day, I got around 25 games. It was a little bit of an up-and-down season for me, but it was a rewarding experience.”

“I’m not in any rush. I’m happy here for as long as I can be, but the aim is to go out on loan – I’m just not too sure where really at the moment.”

We believe that Bradford City are also interested in the Man Utd defender so it will be interesting to see if this move materialises in the coming days.
