Richard Money has told Brian Halford of the Evening Mail that releasing Kris Taylor, Hector Sam, Craig Pead, Mark Wright, Par Cederqvist and Geordie Lyall.
was ‘not pleasant and not easy’.

He went on to tell Brian that,

‘None of the decisions were easy,’ he said. ‘But I had to make those decisions in the best interests of Walsall Football Club. That is the only thing that matters.

‘I think the supporters should thank all of those guys very much. They all contributed to what we achieved. But it’s the manager’s job to make those awkward decisions, even though they were not pleasant and they were not easy.

‘I think all the players we released will have no difficulty finding other clubs. They are good players, it’s just that we need better because this club is moving forward.’

The story in the Evening Mail continues with Brain Halford stating,Money has plenty of work to do in the summer to strengthen a nucleus of senior players trimmed to just eight. Signed up for next season at present are Danny Fox, Anthony Gerrard, Ian Roper, Darren Wrack, Michael Dobson, Martin Butler, Allan Picken and Scott Dann.

Tony Bedeau has been transfer-listed while hopes are high that goalkeeper Clayton Ince will re-sign. Winger Ishmel Demontagnac, out of contract, has been offered another deal but is attracting interest from other clubs.
