Energetic midfielder Kieron Morris is determined to grasp his opportunity in the Saddlers’ first-team after netting against Peterborough United at the weekend.

Speaking to the Official Walsall FC website after Saturday’s game, Morris said: “It was hard work for me today because I`m having to get my fitness back, but I thought I played well,” said Morris.

“When you get opportunities you`ve got to take them and today I did.

“I like playing centrally, the gaffer`s played me there before so he knows I`ve got the ability. You get a lot of the ball, you can see more passes and you can break the lines as well.”

Morris has been handed his chance after fellow midfielder, Florent Cuvelier, suffered a calf injury against Scunthorpe United last week. And whilst Morris feels for his team-mate, he is hoping that he can take his chance in the next few games.

“It`s gutting for Flo, because he`s been playing really well recently – he`s been in form.

“I feel for him, it`s happened to me. It`s unfortunate because injuries can happen at any time.

“I was on the bench for quite a lot of games because our form`s been really good recently.

“I`ve had to bide my time. I`ve been working hard in training and just had to take my chance.”

Morris will probably retain his place in Jon Whitney’s side for the trip to AFC Wimbledon at the weekend and if you can’t make it to the game, make sure to follow Vital Walsall on social media for live updates throughout the game.
