Frontman Alex Nicholls has penned a new 2 year deal with Walsall.

Nicholls said that he was eager to secure his football future in the West Midlands for himself and his family.

Speaking to the official website the 22 year old said; ‘To have my future sorted out is a big relief to me…my daughter Grace is 10 months old, so it was important to get things in order.’

Manager Chris Hutchings is looking at the long term future of the club, so was relieved he could secure Nicholls, and see him compete for a first team place with Darren Byfield and player of the season, Troy Deeney.

Hutchings, also speaking to the official website, said: ‘It is important that the club continues to progress and look to the future and now, with Alex’s long-term future secured, he too can concentrate on his ongoing development.’

All Saddler supporters will breath a sigh of relief that we have secured a striker, the play-offs are well within our reach this season and giving everything falls into place, the goals should fly in! Well, all one can do is hope!

What do you think? Do we need to secure one more striker in the close season? Who would you want to see in a Red Shirt? Comment in the forum!
