O’Connor Slams Players As Embarrassing

|

Walsall caretaker boss Martin O’Connor slammed his players yesterday labelling them an embarrassment and conceded Accrington wanted it more.

The Saddlers 2-1 defeat at Accrington was our twelfth defeat in fifteen and sixth consecutive loss which saw between 50-100 Walsall fans surround the away dressing room to vent their frustrations at full time.

O’Connor admitted he couldn’t defend the players following the embarrassment of a performance. Speaking to Express And Star

“There was nothing, it was a non-performance,”

“I feel like the fans, I am more than disappointed and frustrated.”

“That was an embarrassment of a performance. And I’ve told the boys I’m not going to defend that. You can’t defend that.”

“I said I wanted heart, desire and passion and ability and we got nothing. We gave two poor goals away. Accrington wanted it more than us.”

The Saddlers now face Southend United at the Banks’s Stadium on Good Friday knowing a defeat will all but relegate us to League 2 football next season.
