We all knew it, even they knew it, but we didn’t think it would happen.

The Saddlers onslaught in the second half condenmed Wycombe to another week at the foot of League One.

Last gasp goals, as well as a solid defensive display meant that a three-minute purple patch saw Walsall head back up to the Midlands with the points.

However, Clayton Ince’s poor positioning on 14 mintues saw Scot Davies score directly from a free-kick to put the basement boys ahead.

Shortly after, clever and slick football saw an opening for Davies, who shot from outside the area to beat a dispairing Ince to make it 2-0 on 37 minutes.

Halt-time. Hutch orders the hair-dryer treatment for his players, who immediately get back into the game.

Stevie Jones, who replaced Richard Taundry at half-time, broke through the Wycome resistance, after a superb pass from Matty Richards, to place a cool shot into the left-hand corner of the net to make it 2-1. Game on!

A 20 minute spell of possession saw the Saddlers creap closer and closer to that elusive equaliser.

However, on 80 minutes, a swinging corner from Richards resulted in pin-ball in the penalty area, with skipper Mark Hughes placing the bal into the top of the net to make it 2-2.

Then, three minutes later a quick through-ball from Steve Jones played in fellow substitute Alex Nicholls who shot first time to grab a deserved winner.

All-in-all, a spirited performance to end a baron spell of three away defeats in a row.
