It is only a rumour but…………

Walsall have been trying to see if Coventry City will let us borrow a striker. Having previously tried to get Stern John when Merse was in charge, it appears that the Walsall scouts have returned to the Ricoh stadium.

This time it seems that the 30 year old striker Andy Morrell is under the microscope. With the player out of contract at the end of the season, a popular player with the fans has fallen down the pecking order with the Sky Blues. Both Mcsheffry and Adebola becomming first choice strikers. Morrell who came to the football league with Wrexham following a spell with non league Newcastle Blue Star hit 34 goals in the 2002-03 season. But this season he has been getting a sore bottom with 23 appearences on the bench with only nine starts, scoring 2 goals.

So what are the chances of the rumour becomming fact, well I wonder if Andy Morrell would actually want to exchange the Ricoh for the Bescot. He also probably considers himself a Championship striker. I think also the key is what is happening with his contract our only hope is if he decides to put himself in the shop window.

My gut feeling is that the player is one who could do a job for us, but we won’t see him in a Saddler’s shirt as he will sit and take the money at Coventry.

That is unless you know different.
