The Saddlers continued our fine start to the season with a 2-1 victory over Gillingham and yet again it was a case of “how didn’t we score more?”

Walsall inflicted Gillinghams first league defeat of the season and on that performance the Gills won’t be the first to have their good form ended by the Saddlers.

Morgan Ferrier opened the scoring for the Saddlers in the twelfth minute, bursting into the box with power and pace before smashing it into the top corner.

Isaiah Osbourne grabbed his first since returning back to the club as Morris pulled the ball back to him on the edge of the area before the former Villa man placed it into the bottom corner.

Gillingham grabbed a consolation at the death as Tom Eaves was allowed to run into the box behind Nicky Devlin and Jack Fitzwater before planting his header past Liam Roberts.

The Saddlers end the weekend fifth in League 1.
