Sunderland Closing In On Signing Of George Dobson

|

Sunderland’s local paper The Northern Echo are reporting that Sunderland are closing in on the signing of Walsall midfielder George Dobson

They have stated that Sunderland have been in contact with Walsall and are confident an agreement can be reached shortly.

Vital Walsall understands that the fee is believed to be between £200,000 – £300,000

Dobson was captain of the Saddlers last season following the injury to Adam Chambers but despite his early season form his performances were inconsistent – very much like the rest of the squad.

Dobson joined the Saddlers on loan from West Ham in 2016 and went on to play twenty-one times for the Saddlers.

He joined Sparta Rotterdam on a permanent deal for the 2016/17 season but rejoined the Saddlers in January 2018, then signed a new three-year deal in November 2018, keeping him at the club until 2021.

Dobson has gone on to play a further sixty times for the Saddlers.

We revealed last week that clubs were sniffing around George Dobson.

Rumours started to grow at the weekend during our 2-1 defeat to Alfreton, as Dobson was part of the second half team which was made up of youngsters and trialists – with Darrell Clarke assessing his first team options during the first half.
