Tight? Understatement of the year!

Two of the highest earners released in Ricketts and Hughes and three leaving with Ibhere, Zaaboub and the bargain of the season Anthony Gerrard against none in. Walsall are going to struggle to field a side against Brighton Hove Albion on the 8th of August.

But recruits will be coming soon according to Rhys Weston in the Express and Star – well in the first week of August. The Welsh man reveals that he believes recruits will join late in the summer, why?, so the Chairman doesn’t hasn’t to pay them during the remained of the summer. Yes incredibly it’s true – so if Walsall start off poorly to the season it could be the fact that the players don’t know each other’s name.

This is another statement that is testament to the lack of ambition and sheer tightness of the Board which will most likely see the side struggle this season and drop another thousand off the attendance.

I know there is a bad economic climate at the moment but Walsall have picked up more than half a million in transfer fees and add on’s this summer.

This time last season Jimmy Muddle had brought in Roberts, Mattis, and Zaaboub seemingly instanteously after the contracts expired at former clubs. Bonser even had the daftness to offer a two contract to reliable sick-note Roberts who surprisingly didn’t figure in two thirds of the season because of injury.

Poor Chris Hutchings it won’t be surprising if the former Wigan gaffer decides to leave before a ball is kicked against Brighton – sorry Jimmy Muddle – no pun intended.
