In the reserve defeat at the hands of local rivals Birmingham City a new face appeared at Bescot.

Not only did the experienced striker who played in league two last year get a chance to shine, but he also scored the saddlers goal in the 2-1 defeat.

The striker Clive Wijnhard, who was quite prolific in his earlier days slotted home cooly following a pass from David McDermot and a defensive slip. He was also denied on a couple of other times by good goalkeeping.

Clives details

Height 5.11
Weight 12.04
Date of birth 01-11-1973
Place of birth Paramaribo
Position Forward
Nationality Netherlands

Last season he scored five goals for Darlington taking his tally to 15 league goals in 36 starts, before scoring 8 in 19 starts for Macclesfield. The experienced (another word for old) came to the fore following his transfer from holland to Leeds for 1.5 million, where he moved on to fellow Yorkshire club Huddersfiled for 750k, before short spells at Oldham,Preston, Darlington and Macclesfield scoring 69 goals in 176 league starts at a strike rate 0.36.

It will remain to be seen if Clive has done enough to earn a deal so watch this space.

Other news from the resrve game is that both Michael Dobson and Tony Bedeau got through 90 minutes, Whilst James Constable missed a last minute penalty which would have given the Saddlers a share of the spoils.
