Two Youngsters Refuse Invitation To Training, One Returns

|

In May, Walsall offered youngsters the chance to return to training and win a contract with the Saddlers ahead of the new season.

Joe Slinn, Dan Vann and Dylan Parker were invited back for pre-season training however only Joe Slinn has taken Clarke up on the offer.

You would imagine Dan Vann and Dylan Parker will now be trying to find a new club ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Vann signed his first professional contract in November 2016. The teenager first joined the Saddlers in 2014 and helped the Development Squad complete a league and cup double last term.

Parker signed his first professional contract with the Saddlers in July 2018. The 18-year-old joined the club from FC Stratford last October and scored twice on his Youth Team debut against Bury after coming on as a half-time substitute.

He plundered 11 goals in 20 appearances for the Under-18s and also netted one in two outings for the Development Squad.

He has yet to make his senior debut but was named on the first-team substitutes’ bench for the 1-0 home defeat by Port Vale last season.

Both players were seen as having a bright future so it is a shame given a new era at the club that neither wanted to return.

We wish Dan and Dylan the best of luck for the future.
