Sad news today, as Walsall has allowed Vincent,35, out of his contract so he can be closer to his family.

Vincent’s wife and children live in Berkshire, which meant he had a considerable journey to the Banks’s for training and matches which he found difficult. He has thanked Matt Richards for allowing him to share his Birmingham flat, which made it a bit easier on him.

He told the official site:’I had agreed a deal at Walsall and I’d like to thank the manager and Chairman for their understanding. This isn’t a footballing decision. I’ve loved my time at Walsall.. Family has to come first though and I don’t want my family life to suffer.’

He added: ”Last season, Matty Richards kindly let me use his spare room, so without him it would have been even more difficult, so I’d like to thank him for that..it’s a great bunch of lads at Walsall and, in that sense,I’m gutted to be leaving. However, I’ve got to think of what’s best for my family.’

He is now reportedly talking to a southern league two club to continue his football.

Hutchings waved Jamie off by saying: ”He’s an excellent professional and, as much as we wanted him to stay, it wouldn’t have been right for the player or the club to stand in his way.’

Two key players gone in two days, I am personally gutted. Vincent was a tower of strength at the back for us and he will be sorely missed! I hope that he gets his football elsewhere and is happier for making such an big decision to get out of his contract. Good luck Jamie!
