The ever reliable Daily Star (this is sarcasm by the way) have today claimed Walsall are looking at former Shrewsbury and Macclesfield manager John Askey to try and turn their fortunes around.
@Daily_Star today: L1 strugglers Walsall eyeing a move for Port Vale saviour John Askey. Boss Askey helped Vale pick up 14 points from 12 games to beat L2 drop but his short-term contract is up this summer and owner Norman Smurthwaite wants to sell the club.

Askey who is currently manager of Port Vale is rumoured to be the man the hierarchy have targeted to steer the club away from the mess we currently find ourselves in.
Askey won the National League title with Macclesfield last season and his ‘reward’ was a move to Shrewsbury Town. His time at Shrewsbury was short lived after losing eight of his twenty-three games in charge before being sacked in November.
He took over as Port Vale boss in February and has steered the Valiants away from relegation despite the off field issues they currently have.
He has won four of his twelve games in charge.
Askeys future at Port Vale is still unclear with Norman Smurthwaite set to sell the club.
Askey is 14/1 with Sky Bet to take over the Saddlers.
