Following last seasons debacle of losing players on free transfers it seems the hierarchy at Walsall FC have decided we have a few gems here that require longer term deals.
Walsall CEO Stefan Gamble today told the E&S he has spoken to Walsall manager Dean Smith with regards to which players he wants to tie down for next season. Gamble said “In my conversations with him the manager has mentioned certain names he would like to get tied down sooner rather than later’
The next line from Gamble will be music to fellow Saddlers easr
“We don`t want to rely on that short-termism and one-season contracts.”
For far too long we have relied on 1 year deals and lost good calibre of players to reival clubs. Matt Sadler and Manny Smith are proof of this.
Hopefully this is a step in the right direction and we shall progress this as the days go on….
