The repatriation fund to bring Wayne Evans home has now surpassed £12,000.

Former Walsall and Rochdale defender Evans sadly suffered a hear attack in the USA last week and the family were quoted £30,000 to bring him back to the UK.

Former Walsall teammate, Chris Marsh, has since set-up a JustGiving page to raise funds in order to bring Evans back to the UK from the USA. Marsh paid tribute to his friend ‘Wanners’ on the page, saying: “Absolutely devastated to hear of the passing of Wanners at the age of 51. A dear friend and team mate of mine for many years.

“thanks for all your amazing support to date. Bev and the family wanted to share some words……… ‘To all who have taken the time to leave such sincere and heartfelt messages and the generous donations to help me and the family bring Wanners home, we have really been overwhelmed with the kindness of people. Although we are heartbroken it has given us all such comfort to realise how much respect and love so many have for Wanners’. ‘With love and appreciation, Bev and all the Evans family’ xx”

For anyone wishing to donate can do so on the Justgiving page
