We’ve Got To Realise If No One Comes In Its Up to Us

|

Joe Edwards has today come out defiant calling on all the players to give their all as the Saddlers drop further towards the relegation places.

Edwards said the players must realise that if no one comes into the club during the January transfer window its up to them to all pull together and get the club moving in the right direction again.

The Saddlers have currently recruited Matt Jarvis and Omar Mussa during the window but have seen their squad dwindle away with the departures of Josh Ginnelly, Russell Martin and the recall on loan signings of Kane Wilson, Jack Fitzwater and Connor Ronan.

With just two centre backs at the club you would imagine that defence is the priority for Keates however Edwards is optimistic if they all pull together as one things will improve.

Speaking to Express and Star, Edwards said

“There will be more competition for places when new signings come in which can give people a lift”

“But we have got to get the most of out the players we have already and that’s down to me as one of the senior players.”

“We’ve got to realise that if no-one does come in then it is down to us, we’re the only ones who can turn it around.”

“We can’t feel sorry for ourselves and we can’t sit back and hope that something will happen for us, we have got to go and make it happen.”

The Saddlers now face three consecutive games against teams battling for the drop as we travel to Gillingham on Saturday, Plymouth on Tuesday before facing Rochdale at the Banks’s Stadium the Saturday after.

The whole club just needs something to give us a lift at the moment – a new signing will help the cause!
