Walsall boss Jon Whitney has today said he would welcome Milan Lalkovic back to the club with open arms and said they have been in contact since the transfer deadline window slammed shut.

Lalkovic was released by Portsmouth following an injury which has kept him out most of this season.

Lalkovic needs no introduction to Walsall fans after initially playing thirty eight games for the Saddlers during a loan spell in 2014 – scoring six goals.

Lalkovic then went to his homeland but things didnt work out and he returned to England to play for Barnsley, he was limited to first team oppurtunities and returned to the Saddlers in 2016 where he scored a further seven goals in forty appearances.

He then rejected contract offers from the Saddlers to join League 2 side Portsmouth, where he played just fourteen games.

Milan has just recovered from injury and is now free to move – surely a return is not on the cards?

Our opinion is we shouldnt go back for him but with how this squad is looking at the minute a deal until the end of the season wouldnt be too bad for both parties.

Would you welcome Milan back? Would he improve a struggling Walsall side? – let us know, head over to our Twitter and Facebook pages.
